In the delicate corridors of Instituto Amor em Patas (IAPA), a frail soul awaited her fate. Natajuli, once robust, now weakened, and unable to stand, bore the weight of fear in her eyes. Abandoned by her owner due to the impending arrival of her puppies, she found solace in the compassionate arms of IAPA.
Her first encounter with shelter volunteers unveiled a fierce protectiveness. Fear-driven, she expended every ounce of her energy to keep them at bay, guarding the precious life within her. However, as time unfolded, the walls around her began to crumble, revealing a more sociable and trusting side.
Observing her distended belly, a volunteer speculated, “It may be carrying 13 or 14 babies inside. We plan to schedule her test for tomorrow due to her weakened state. Tonight will be a lengthy one for Natajuli and for us as we prepare for her ultrasound to ensure everything is in order.”
Allowed to return to the shelter with the necessary support for the impending delivery, Natajuli surpassed all odds. The first cry echoed, announcing the arrival of a bright young boy.
As the volunteer joyfully exclaimed, “Can you count how many puppies there are? It’s 14 – Natajuli gave birth to 14 adorable babies.” The shelter buzzed with newfound hope and the promise of new life.
Natajuli and her 14 bundles of joy underwent a thorough vet check-up, ultrasound, and blood tests, leaving the shelter team in awe. Natajuli, once fragile, now wore a rosy hue, and her plump puppies thrived.
Overwhelmed with emotion, a volunteer shared, “I almost sobbed when I saw her smiling, her babies are so lovely – I just want to kiss them.”
However, one task remained – naming the 14 tiny miracles. A call to the community was made, inviting suggestions and adoration. “Anyone loves to name them – and give them a name, let suggest the name you adore in the comment” The shelter echoed with the collective anticipation of bestowing meaningful names upon these newfound symbols of resilience and hope.
