Potato and pea mash

  • 1kg desiree potatoes, peeled, halved
  • 1 cup (150g) frozen or fresh peas
  • 1/2 cup (125ml) buttermilk
  • 30g butter, chopped

    Place potatoes in a large saucepan. Cover with cold water and place over high heat. Bring to the boil. Cook for 15 minutes or until tender. Add peas, cook for 2 minutes or until peas are tender. Drain well.

    Heat buttermilk and butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add potato and pea mixture and use a potato masher to mash until smooth. Taste and season with salt and pepper. Use a wooden spoon to stir to combine. Serve immediately.
