Apples baked with spiced sugar

  Preheat oven to 160°C. Grease a large baking dish. Place the apple, cut-side up, in the dish.

  Combine the brown sugar, caster sugar and cardamom in a bowl. Sprinkle over the apple. Top each with a piece of butter.

  Bake for 1 hour 15 minutes or until the apple is puffed, golden and caramelised. Cool for 5 minutes. Serve with cream or ice-cream.
